I attained my Diploma in Cognitive Hypnotherapy at the Quest Institute in London, where I was trained by Trevor Silvester, Director of the Quest Institute, former Director of Ethics and current Director of Supervision at the National Council for Hypnotherapy.
In addition to a Diploma in Cognitive Hypnotherapy, I hold the Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma (HPD) which is the first nationally accredited hypnotherapy qualification, awarded through the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH) and the NCFE National Awarding Body, and I am an NLP Master Practitioner.
I am a certified Facilitator of Clean Language/Symbolic Modelling, working with the metaphorical nature of human perception for change. I trained with Penny Tompkins and James Lawley of The Developing Company, co-developers of Symbolic Modelling and leading authorities on the use of self-originated metaphor for personal and professional development; and Wendy Sullivan of the Clean Change Company and Judy Rees, formerly of the Clean Change Company and currently at X-Ray Listening.
As a member of the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH) I am bound by their strict Code of Ethics which promotes the highest standard of training and professional ethics amongst its members, emphasising integrity, competence and professional conduct.
I am committed to my continuing professional development so you can be sure that I'll be using the most up-to-date techniques when working with you.
I am registered with the UK Confederation of Hypnotherapy Organisations (Reg. No. 90209).
Before becoming a hypnotherapist, I worked at an international institution in Washington, DC. Using the NLP skills I learnt while in the United States, I found the courage and motivation to give up the only career I knew and return to England to fulfill my dream of becoming a hypnotherapist, helping others to overcome their own obstacles and empower themselves to be the person they want to become.
'Make the most of yourself,
for that is all there is of you.'
Ralph Waldo Emerson
I experienced for myself how small changes made to unconscious thought patterns can lead to a powerful change in behaviour and outlook, shrinking barriers and obstacles and increasing motivation, energy, and optimism.
'The greatest revolution of our generation is
the discovery that human beings,
by changing the inner attitudes of their minds,
can change the outer aspects of their lives,'
William James, psychologist and philosopher
I have always been fascinated about how we are all so unique, each of us experiencing the world and living our lives in our own individual way. We all have our own subjective experience of the world, leading to differences in what we each notice and pay attention to, what we do and how we do it, the strengths we choose to express, and the values and beliefs that contribute to our identity.
'Insist on yourself; never imitate...
Every great man is unique,'
Ralph Waldo Emerson
Two clients may have a problem that shares the same 'label' but their subjective experience of that problem will be unique to each of them. Similarly, what it will mean to each client to have solved that problem will be different too.
My work involves guiding my clients within their own mind where they find the answers that are uniquely theirs so that they can achieve the solution they desire.
The uniqueness of our subjective experience of the world is what makes possible the wonderful diversity of human nature. It provides the freedom to change what we no longer want. And it is what makes my work as a Cogntive Hypnotherapist so fulfilling.
